Embedded in Insight’s Business & Legal Affairs department, the Business Affairs Coordinator Trainee will work in a fast-paced environment on a variety of shows across multiple genres. The focus is on in-depth, hands-on training in all aspects of the business side of television, leading up to, on and following The Legacy Awards. This is a hybrid position requiring some days at the Insight office for meetings.
This Participant will gain experience in all aspects of producing a show from start to finish. As a member of the Business and Legal Affairs team, the BA Coordinator Trainee will learn how to communicate with colleagues handling separate aspects of Business Affairs but collectively working together. The BA Coordinator Trainee will work on resource sharing, problem-solving and witness decision making from the COO, SVP of Legal Affairs, Manager of Legal Operations, Director of Business Affairs, Coordinators and more.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Preparing digital documents and administering production-related contracts including talent agreements, deal memos, releases, etc.
- Drafting Canadian content applications (CRTC)
- Preparing ACTRA/CFM contracts and related paperwork as required
- Assisting in the submission of insurance applications and the distribution of production insurance certificates
- Performing administrative duties such as electronic filing and record keeping
- Attending meetings virtually and in-person with the Business and Legal Affairs team and various production teams
- Communicating with other departments (e.g. accounting) to ensure proper processing of documentation
- Additional Duties as required/directed
ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES:
- Identify as Black
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada
- Ontario Resident
- 19 years old or older
- Self-starter with the ability to follow through until successful completion of assigned duties
- Interest in the business of film and television
- Ability to function effectively in an atmosphere subject to frequent changes and produce results
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Google Drive, Dropbox
