ROLE: ASSISTANT EDITOR TRAINEE

The Assistant Editor is the right-hand and go-to for the Editor on a show. This Trainee will learn the fundamentals and skills necessary to excel as an Assistant Editor, including footage ingestion, metadata tagging, editing, troubleshooting, and media organization.
The Assistant Editor will interface with an array of personnel on a show, including but not limited to producers, showrunners, composers, as well as sound and visual effects editors.
At the end of the program, the Assistant Editor will have the skills necessary to pursue a job in the Post Production industry as well as a minimum of one (1) production credit for their resume.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assemble edits of raw footage and stock footage into scenes and format sections
- Execute notes from Producer(s)
- Music and sound effect editing
- Editing packs and/or sections of show for review by Producers
- Ingesting and cataloguing footage as required
- Other duties as required/directed
ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES:
- Program is designed for Canadian citizens or permanent residents who identify as Black
- Participant needs to 19 years old or older
- Participant needs to reside in Ontario
- Experience with Avid Media Composer
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines
- Ability to function effectively in an atmosphere subject to frequent changes and produce results
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma
